Book Review- A Boy Like You by Ginger Scott

A BOY LIKE YOU
Book 1 In The Like You Series
YA Contemporary Romance

BLURB:
They say everyone’s a superhero to someone. I’m not sure who I’m supposed
to save, but I know who saved me.

We were kids. His name was Christopher. And up until the day he pulled me
from death’s grip, he was nothing more than a boy I felt sorry for. In a
blink of an eye, he became the only person who made me feel safe.

And then he disappeared.

Now I’m seventeen. I’m not a kid anymore. I haven’t been for years. While
death didn’t take me that day, the things that happened left me with
scars—the kind that robbed me of everything I once loved and drove me into
darkness. But more than anything else, that day—and every day since—has
taken away my desire to dream.

I wasn’t going to have hope. I wouldn’t let myself wish. Those things—they
weren’t for girls like me. That’s what I believed…until the new boy.

He’s nothing like the old boy. He’s taller and older. His hair is longer,
and his body is lean—strong and ready for anything. I don’t feel sorry for
him. And sometimes, I hate him. He challenges me. From the moment I first
saw him standing there on the baseball field, he pushed me—his eyes
constantly questioning, doubting…daring. Still, something about him—it
feels…familiar.

He says his name is Wes. But I can’t help but feel like he’s someone else.
Someone from my past. Someone who’s come back to save me.

This time, though, he’s too late. Josselyn Winters, the girl he once knew,
is gone. I am the threat; I am my worst enemy. And he can’t save me from
myself.

I Was Provided A ARC By The Author
(Possible Spoilers)

Every once in awhile a book, story, author comes along that shakes your world. That shakes you. Who's words stick with you long after the book is closed.

For me, that was A Boy Like You.

I don't even know how to put into words how amazing this book was.
But here it goes.

Who is Joss Winters? Tomboy, rebel, snarky softball player? She herself doesn't seem to know anymore. She's skating by in school, pushing the pain of her home life under the rug, as much as it will fit, and enjoying the rush that comes with putting herself in danger. Joss hasn't felt like her life was anything special for a long time, she just floats on by, looking for an escape. Looking for something. Her life changed all those years ago, when a accident took everything in her life and turned it upside down. The memory from that day that sticks with her the most is of the boy who saved her.

And she's left wondering where he is now, when she could really use some saving.

With the arrival of Wes Stokes, Joss can't help but wonder who this boy, with blue eyes and backwards hat is. And why he feels so familiar. Watching him on the baseball field, at parties, driving his truck, she starts to wonder, to dream if he is who she's wishing him to be. He pushes her buttons, holds her up when she wants to fall, and is never far when she needs to be kept safe. But who is Wes Stokes really, and why can't Joss stop thinking of this boy.

Wow, its tough trying to write this review, I can't put into enough words what a phenomenal story A Boy Like You is. I don't want to spoil anything, because it is a story that you just have to experience.

Joss & Wes are those kind of characters that leave an impact on you. Beautiful, raw, broken, so damn great! I could read about this sassy tomboy, and this mysterious, sweet boy, over and over again. Joss is a character that I love, she is one of the best female characters I have read, to be in her head, to experience her story is something she don't want to miss. Wes, sigh. This boy. Many readers will fall head over heals for this one. I did. Big time.

I was on the edge of my seat, flipping the pages all night long, reading this story, consuming every word, wanting to know where this story would lead me. I fell in love with each one of these characters, Joss, Wes, Taryn, Kyle, TK, Levi, Coach Winters. They each brought something so great to this book. I teared up, laughed, gasped, cried actual tears, and was left breathless finishing this kick*** story.

One things for sure,

This girl and this boy will not be forgotten.

Ginger Scott gives voice to characters with so much soul. She is a author that everyone should know. And her books need to be in the hands of many.

You'll be left wanting to know so much more at the end of this book, wanting to discover everything. But you'll be satisfied, you'll feel good where it was left off at. Cause you just know that Ginger Scott will deliver us magic.

And oh what greatness I'm sure is to come.
