BLURB:
Fractions of seconds can do lots of damage. One decision can ruin lives. A blink can be tragic. And loving a Hollister…can hurt like hell.
I would know.
They say the average person can hold their breath under water for two full minutes when pushed to the extremes. Will Hollister has been holding his for years. The oldest of two elite swimming brothers, Will was always a dominant force in the water. But in life, he preferred to let his younger
brother Evan be the one to shine.
Evan got the girl, and Will…he got to bury all of the secrets. A brother’s burden, the weight of it all nearly left him to drown.
The daughter of two Olympians, my path was set the day my fingertips first touched water. My future was as crystal clear as the lane I dominated in the pool—swim hard, win big, love a Hollister.
My life with Evan burned bright. He gave me arms to come home to, and a smile that fooled the world into believing everything was perfect. But it was Will who pushed me. Will…who really knew me.
And when all of the pieces fell, it was Will who started to pick them up.
In the end, the only thing that matters are those few precious seconds—and what we decide to do while we still have them in our grasp.

~My Review~
5 Stars
"You smitten with me, Will Hollister."
Maddy Woodsen has been coasting these past four years, after a horrible tragedy that took away a future she though she had all mapped out. Now back at the Shore Club, training with her father, she's getting herself ready to dominate at the Olympics. Being in the pool, swimming laps, beating her best times, is home for her. It brings back all her favorite memories, but being in this club, in this pool, also reminds her of the ghosts in the past.
Maddy thought everything would be smooth sailing, that is until, Will Hollister stepped through the doors of the club. He's making a comeback. And training under her father, sharing the same pool, will put him in her path at every turn. Maddy doesn't know if she's ready to face her past, and Will is her past. He's in every moment, every memory, and with Will comes old wounds, unanswered questions, and new facts to the life she shared with the Hollister brothers. With Will being back in Maddy's life, it makes her have to face the thoughts and feelings she always hid from the older Hollister Brother.
"You're the only thing that doesn't make me want to drown."
Will Hollister has faced more pain and tragedy then he should be able to handle. And he's not handling it. Pain, doubt, guilt, have followed him these last four years. He's had some really low times, he's hit the bottom, sunk. But he is ready find a part of who he once was. And what better place then in the water. Being back at the Shore Club, training, being in a place with so many memories, is maybe just what Will needs to comeback, to live. He is tired of feeling like he's always drowning. He will have to overcome his demons, and fight to try and enjoy life again.
Being back home, means being in the same place as Maddy Woodesen. The girl who has always had a piece of him. Time and distant has not changed how he has always seen her. Even when she wasn't his to see. Maddy is a big part of him believing in himself, she was always in his corner, rooting him on, challenging him. Will hopes that spark, that friendship is still there, he needs that to help him with his decisions of coming home and competing again. But there are secrets, and responsibility's he has taken on that could hurt her and scare her off. Will has to tread slowly if he wants a chance of reconnecting with Maddy, for her to believe in what has always been between them.
"I think I came here knowing that you were my only shot at peace."
Maddy & Will, wow these two have a complex, heartbreaking, yet sweet and amazing love story. The pain of their pasts, the wonderful friendship, the swoon-worthy romance, make Will & Maddy's story one I am so happy to have experienced. I laughed, teared up, and fell so in love with these two.
"I would have picked you, I would have chosen you."
Oh man, Ginger Scott has a way with words, they just flow off the pages and find a place in your heart. You embrace these characters, their thoughts, words, emotions, and you feel every bit of their joy, pain, regret & love. Hold My Breath was full of surprises and twists that I didn't see coming, and that makes for some great storytelling. I was captivated, I was anxious to see where the book would lead me next, and I was left wanting more and more from these amazing characters, who, big or small brought something great to this story, after every chapter.
"For now, we give everything we've got to the other Hollister brother-the one nobody saw coming."
Hold My Breath is a perfect blend of love and angst. And one of the best reads this year.
"She is my joy. She always has been."
