(Possible Spoilers)
Kacey King is ready to move on and get a fresh start. After winning gold in the Olympics, she lived the dream she always had. Now its time to live the other dream she has, fall in love and start a family. Moving to Nashville and starting her job as the assassins trainer is just what she needs after spending the last year heartbroken and trying to pick up the pieces. Only problem is letting go of the past and of the one man who crushed her, who still holds a big part of her heart. Its going to take all of Kacey strength. She cant let herself slip back into that place again where Jordie Thomas can hurt her.
Jordie Thomas has become a shell of a man. Set on a downward spiral for years, Jordie has finally hit a point, where if he wants to live a life full of friends, family and playing hockey, then putting the bottle away and getting help is his only option. To many years of drinking, partying and pushing people who love him away, needs to come to a end. Pushing Kacey King, the only girl he could every really love, broke something in him. Going to rehab, the only thing that could get him through was knowing he could become the man Kacey deserves. Jordie has to learn to overcome many demons in his past and in his present so that he can have a chance at a future with Kacey. He will do anything to win her back.
There is so much raw beauty and pain laced through every chapter. The struggle that Jordie faces every day was heartbreaking and hard at sometimes to read. You really feel his struggle, his guilt and pain. But it was beautiful at the same time because Jordie who grows so much in the span of this book. He starts as a character who comes off as a goofy a**hole, but deep down hides so much pain, who then becomes a strong and fierce fighter for his sobriety. And for his family, and especially for Kacey.
Kacey was a great character to read about also. We think of her as the quirky tough sister of Karson, but through out this book we see more than just those things. She's a tough, stubborn women, but she has such a vulnerable side to her, you just want to hug her tight. Kacey also hides alot of pain, guilt and anger towards Jordie and what happened in the past. And that makes it hard for her to forgive him. It's not easy for her to forget. But when she starts to let him back in, she becomes a even braver and stronger person. She has such hope for Jordie, sure she has her hesitations and doubts, but she becomes a pretty good rock for him to lean on.
I always love to dive into a new chapter of this amazing series, and every time i fall in love even more with this team, this group, this family. Getting a glimpse of where they are or where they are going is always fun. These characters are interlaced in each others stories and that's what i think makes this such a special series.
Toni Aleo i give you so much kudos for this book. It is truly a amazing story. Sweet, sexy, funny, with lots of angst and tears. Awesome job and i cant wait to see what comes next in the world of the assassins.
