Wicked, was a action packed, sexy, new take on the Fae mythology.
Coming from Jennifer L. Armentrout, you just know it will be filled with laughs, a kick-ass heroine, a cocky lead guy, humor, and intense fight scenes.
Ivy Morgan is skilled, trained, raised to defend others. To protect the world from the Fae. She's part of "The Order." A secret society in New Orleans, with the sole purpose to rid the world from evil. To keep people safe, and the gates to the Otherworld sealed.
After being shot on patrol by a Fae, who is not any Fae Ivy has ever seen before. He's a "Ancient." A very powerful Fae. Most of The Order, haven't heard of them, and the ones who have, don't believe they really exist. With most of The Order looking to Ivy like she's crazy. She's more determined to prove them wrong. Enter Ren Owens, Tall, Green Eyed, sexy as hell. The first man in a long time to get under Ivy's skin. Both good and bad. He's drives her insane with his cockiness, but she also craves his touch.
Ren was transferred to New Orleans, from Colorado. He's a Skilled fighter, part of The Order. But there's more to him being in Louisiana. He's part of a secret group within the order, "The Elite". A group sent to find and kill, "Halflings" part Fae, part human. Very few know of this secret group. And even fewer know of the Halflings.
And if the gates to the Otherworld are opened and the prince or princess comes through. If they get there hands on one of these Halflings. Then Ivy, Ren, The Order, and the Humans will be in even more danger. Ivy will have to take a chance with trusting Ren, not just with this fight but her heart.
Ivy was another awesome main character to add to Jennifer's kick*** heroines. Tough, snarky, but vulnerable. A girl, who has seen loss, but still keeps going. Ivy learns to open up, slowly. But in all, she just wants love and a life, a life that she can see beyond The Order. There is still so much to her character, and I can't wait to see where her story goes.
Ren. Oh Ren! (Sigh) He is defiantly a sexy, swoon-worthy, gives you butterflies, lead guy. He's a strong man with a purpose. Do his job, and live his life. I just know there is more to this, green eyed, curly haired, dimpled man.
The romance, banter, & intense connection between Ivy & Ren was sexy and sweet. You rooted for them to have their moment. I'm impatiently waiting to see where there love goes.
The action & mythology. Wow! Again Jennifer knocked it out of the park with this one. I loved the her take on Fae, and the Otherworld characters, Like Tink! He made for some great laughs with his one liners & troll dolls. The fight scenes were fun and full of suspense. The whole world of the order is a interesting concept, that I want to learn more about.
The feel of New Orleans seeps through the pages. Jennifer paints a picture in your mind, with the descriptions of the characters surroundings. You'll feel like your in another there. Bravo Jennifer L. Armentrout for bringing another great start to what I'm sure that will be a favorite to many of your fans, and bring you even more!
