About the book:

As false accusations of witchcraft consume Salem Village, eighteen-year-old Poppy Seabrooke, a true witch, is content to stay away from the hysteria and more importantly from the relentless advances of Angus Wolfe, a powerful warlock masquerading as Salem’s pastor. When Poppy uses her magic to help a young boy, she is arrested. Angus is the only person who can help her, but, in return, she must promise her hand in marriage. In desperation, Poppy’s grandmother sends her two hundred years into the future to hide. Poppy finds herself years from home in the middle of a strange place called Montana where rooms light up without candles or sorcery, steam puffing dragons roar across fields on tracks, and cows sprout horns as long as tree trunks. And while Poppy hides from the man who turns her heart cold as ice, she discovers the man who can set it on fire.

Cade Tanner has always lived fast and hard, and he prefers it that way. The last thing he needs is a girl to distract him from running the cattle ranch his father left him. But Poppy, the sweetly innocent beauty with the soft smile and dark eyes, who seemingly fell from the sky, is tough to ignore. But Cade soon finds that falling for Poppy comes with a dangerous price.

Cade Tanner walked out of the jailhouse convinced that something wasn’t quite right . . . as if he’d left something behind. Something he needed badly.

Cade Tanner would follow Poppy Seabrooke to hell and everywhere in between if it meant she’d be his forever.                         ~ Author Interview ~

(JordansBookReviews asked)
Out of all of your books, which one is your favorite/Sticks with you the most?

(Tess Oliver)
I would have to say my favorite is still the first one I released an indie author, "Camille". It did really well and it got my name out there. I had so much fun writing that one.

(Stephanie Christensen asked)
-Where did the idea for the Barringer brothers come from?

(Tess Oliver)

Can't really say. I usually generate my book ideas while I'm out on a walk or a hike. Sometimes it takes several good long walks to formulate an idea. Luke and Angel's story came together on one of those walks.

(Nikki Eva asked)
Who is your favorite Character you have ever written?

(Tess Oliver)

I get asked this a lot and I would have to stick with my usual answer-- Nathaniel Strider from my first book "Camille".

(Stephanie Christensen asked)
-What was the first book you wrote?

(Tess Oliver)

My first books were historical erotic romance written as a coauthor with my sister under the pen name Scottie Barrett. We wrote forSamhain but recently have gotten some rights back. So they'll be republished soon. "Camille" was  my first Tess Oliver book.

(Dannielle Jeffery Asked)
-Your books have covered a lot of different type of genres. What's your favorite type?

(Tess Oliver)

Anything as long as there is romance. I'm a sap for romance. I like historical romancebest of all. Nineteenth century England is my favorite setting.

(Stephanie Christensen asked)
- Was there a certain someone who was a inspiration for the custom culture men?

(Tess Oliver)

Hmm, not really although Clutch does remind me of my husband some. My husband is definitely an alpha who loves car racing and riding motocross. He's my cool romance honey, for sure.

(Xavier Neal asked)
-You do such a wonderful job being diverse. Do You ever think you'll dabble in "Darker" stories? Do you try to follow the trend or just stick to what you feel like you should be writing?

(Tess Oliver)
I am at the moment taking a short break from my series to write a stand-alone that is definitely different and, maybe not darker but, more serious than my other stuff. It's a story that's been cranking around in my head for a while so I gave myself a little present and allowed myself some time to write it down. I'm having a blast with the story. If it's a trend that I'm interested in writing, then I'll write it. Otherwise, I can't write something if it doesn't interest me.

(JordansBookReviews asked)
When you're not writing, what do you like to do?

(Tess Oliver)

I recently retired from teaching ( a bit early) to write full time but when I'm not writing I like to stay active. I'm lucky enough to live in Southern California where the weather is nice about 355 days a year. So I hike and jog and take walks. My kids are grown but I have 5 dogs and they take a lot of my energy. I used to have horses but I retired my last two up to my friends ranch in Oregon.

(Stephanie Christensen asked)
-When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

(Tess Oliver)
In second grade one of my stories got published into a school-wide creative writing book. That might just have been the catalyst.

(Heather Ross Cicio asked)
How do you pick the location your story is taking place in? Do you travel there or just research it so you can describe it accurately?

(Tess Oliver)

Sometimes I pick places I know. The Custom Culture is set in Los Angeles, a place I know. And Rain Shadow is in Nevada, near the Stateline border. My family took a trip to Lake Tahoe every year when I was a kid so I know it pretty well too. Other places I try and research as much as possible. Google images is great for getting the descriptive juices flowing for a setting that I've only seen in pictures.

(JordansBookReviews asked)
Do you have a favorite fan moment or book signing experience?

(Tess Oliver)

So many of them are awesome, it's hard to pinpoint one. As someone who taught kids to read for many years, I'm always thrilled when I get an email from someone who says they were never a big reader until they picked up one of my books and now they can't stop. Love to hear that.

(JordansBookReviews asked)
Any advice you would give to a aspiring writer?

(Tess Oliver)
Stick to writing what you love and find what works for you. I have certain times of the day where my writing flows and other times where I'm staring at the monitor wondering if there are any good blog posts to read. Anything to procrastinate. And if something's not working I switch directions. Pour your heart and soul into your story. The reader will take notice.

I had alot of fun putting this *Author Spotlight* together. Tess Oliver was the first author i found, and started reading when i got my kindle. She just  drew me in with her stories. So,  i was really happy that i got to do a interview her. And i love being part of her street team. She gives so much to her readers. Thank you Tess! And thank you to *Tess Oliver's Street Team* for helping me out with the awesome quetions!
