                          Waiting on the Sidlines
                  by Ginger Scott

About the book:

Nolan Lennox had things figured out. Named after a baseball legend, she enjoyed being the Tomboy, her closet filled with her brother’s hand-me-downs, cut-off jeans and soccer shorts. But when her first trip to high school results in a broken heart from the first boy to ever make her heart flutter and cruel words from an older girl she once thought a family friend, Nolan starts to question the very person she thought she was and wonders if her humble upbringing can compete with the afforded luxuries of her privileged peers.

Throughout the next four years, Nolan struggles to maintain herself throughout her path of discovery, learning just how cruel teenagers can be through the pressures of underage drinking, sexuality and class. And despite how life seems to continue to work against her, she still manages to listen to her heart, falling deeper and deeper for the guy the entire town adores, even if he only sees her as a friend. Can Nolan strike a compromise between her own integrity and the boy she loves? And can she make him notice her before it’s too late?

Reed Johnson came to Coolidge High School with a lot of fanfare. The son of a hometown football legend and the brother of a local football hero, Reed wore all the pressures of carrying a town without hope into the spotlight. Thankfully, he had the talent to back it up. But when he meets a girl who makes him think twice about exactly what being a hero means, he starts to wonder if following in his brother’s footsteps might be all wrong.

Nolan Lennox was everything that was opposite of expected. She didn’t flirt, she didn’t drink and she didn’t sleep around. Nothing about her was easy, but something about her made Reed want to try harder. Though she didn’t look the part, she seemed to be spending a lot of time in Reed’s thoughts, and he wondered if she could be the one who made it all worthwhile. But could Reed handle letting her down? And would breaking her heart break him beyond repair?

Waiting on the Sidelines explores young love to its fullest, exposing how real young heartbreak and passion is and how important it is to discover yourself and hold onto your own identity. The story follows two young characters as they deal with mature situations, including the prevalence of bullying and promiscuity in today’s high school setting. Ultimately, Waiting on the Sidelines is a story of hope, honesty and those powerful, first true loves—the ones worth holding onto at any cost.

                   Blindness
                                    by Ginger Scott

About the book:

It takes a while to know who you really are. And when you lose your way, sometimes it’s hard to find it again.

Charlie Hudson was on the verge of figuring that out when her dad—the only parent and friend she ever had—died suddenly. She was barely 18, and she was alone. So she went for easy—playing life safe, running away from a home that harbored nothing but bad memories and challenges and loving a man who would take her away from it all forever.

It’s funny how chance takes over when you need it most. And that’s exactly what brought Cody Carmichael into her life. A former motocross super star, Cody was now happy to be living the blue collar life, spending his days finishing up school and his nights under the hood of some classic car, just trying to keep everything his father taught him alive. Cody and Charlie were living parallel lives, until they finally collided. And the moment he smiled at her, Charlie knew he was the one who would change everything. But was she willing to take the risk?

Cody saw through it all. He saw her—all of her. But would letting him in be too much to take? And if Charlie let herself love him—really love him—could he love her back?

            How We Deal With Gravity
                                    by Ginger Scott

About the book:

When her son Max was diagnosed with autism, Avery Abbot’s life changed forever. Her husband left, and her own dreams became a distant fantasy—always second to fighting never-ending battles to make sure Max was given opportunity, love and respect. Finding someone to fight along her side wasn’t even on her list, and she’d come to terms with the fact that she could never be her own priority again.

But a familiar face walking into her life in the form of 25-year-old Mason Street had Avery’s heart waging a war within. Mason was a failure. When he left his hometown five years ago, he was never coming back—it was only a matter of time before his records hit the billboard charts. Women, booze and rock-n-roll—that was it for him. But it seemed fate had a different plan in mind, and with a dropped record contract, little money and nowhere to go, Mason turned to the only family that ever made him feel home—the Abbots.

Avery loved Mason silently for years—until he broke her heart…completely. But time and life have a funny way of changing people, and sometimes second chances are there for a reason. Could this one save them both?

                                      by Ginger Scott

About the book:

First, I had to remember how to breathe. Then, I had to learn how to survive. Two years, three months and sixteen days had passed since I was the Rowe Stanton from before, since tragedy stole my youth and my heart went along with it.

When I left for college, I put a thousand miles between my future and my past. I’d made a choice—I was going to cross back to the other side, to live with the living. I just didn’t know how.

And then I met Nate Preeter.

An All-American baseball player, Nate wasn’t supposed to notice a ghost-of-a-girl like me. But he did. He shouldn’t want to know my name. But he did. And when he learned my secret and saw the scars it left behind, he was supposed to run. But he didn’t.

My heart was dead, and I was never supposed to belong to anyone. But Nate Preeter had me feeling, and he made me want to be his. He showed me everything I was missing.

And then he showed me how to fall.

*This is a standalone in a three-part series that will focus on different characters. Each book can be read on its own.

You And Everything After
by Ginger Scott

About the book:

I’m that teenaged girl who has MS. You haven’t met me, but you’ve seen me around. You probably know my sister. We’re twins, and she’s the pretty one. Maybe you’ve heard about my reputation, how much I like to hook up at parties—how easy it is to get me in bed, get what you want, and forget about me after.

Forget what you think you know. I’m leaving that girl behind.

College is all about new beginnings. So from now on—I’m just Cass. And the rest…it isn’t written yet. And no one else gets to write my story for me.

--------

“Tyson Preeter doesn’t do can’t.”

That’s exactly what I want people to think when they see me. I am strong, invincible, confident, intelligent—arrogant. I’m the man who always finds a way around, over and through—until there’s nothing left. Since losing my ability to walk six years ago, I’ve relearned life. I don’t need sympathy. I don’t want charity. And I don’t do love.

It’s better this way, saves my disappointments for me, and me alone, and it saves my strength for everything I want.

But Cass Owens is about to wreck everything. She’s about to steal all of my strength away from me, because she needs it more. She’s about to break all of my rules, and break down all of my walls. She’s about to own me…completely.

And I’m about to let her.

Excerpt from You And Everything After:

I thought I felt foolish about being younger. But that was before I made a floor display of every cliché low-self-esteem brochure printed in the state of Oklahoma. Naturally, the most embarrassing one is in Ty’s hands right now.
How to Love Yourself So Others Will Too,” Ty reads, flipping the book in his hands and skimming his eyes over the description on the back. I take this opportunity to scoop everything else up in my arms and sit on the floor with my legs crossed, quickly stuffing things back in my bag. “Oh, this is good. Wait, listen to this one…”
He starts to quote a few of the passages, mocking the stereotypical affirmations and examples in the book. I know they’re stupid—and hearing them now, I’m not sure why I picked the book up. But reading it made me feel good an hour or two ago. “Wow, what class is making you read this shit?” he asks, finally putting the book down. His laughter cuts short when he sees me, my eyes buried in my lap.
“It’s not for a class,” I say, looking up long enough to get the book from him. “My stuff’s in the dryer. Just…just knock on my door when it buzzes done.” I leave quickly, clutching my things close to my chest and feeling ridiculous.
I don’t bother to zip my bag up again, instead carrying it all into my room and letting everything spill out into a pile on my bed. I don’t know what made me check all of these things out. It all started with the book Ty was reading, actually. My hands gravitated to it while I was looking through some of the health and wellness books. At first, my attraction was the same as Ty’s—I found the book amusing. But some of those cheesy sayings actually rang true, especially the ones about feeling inferior to siblings and how we use self-deprecating humor as a crutch. Next thing I knew…I had two books, four magazines, and a dozen brochures.
Ty’s knock on my door is soft. I hadn’t shut it all the way when I walked in, so he takes advantage and comes all the way into my room with little warning.
“Dry already?” I ask, doing my best to pretend none ofthat happened. I pick the pillow up from my lap, laying it over the embarrassing evidence.
“No,” Ty responds, moving closer until he’s at the foot of my bed. Without pause, he slides from his chair to the bed until he’s sitting next to me. He picks up the pillow, and my stomach sinks. His smile is soft as he scoopseverything into my bag, and slides it all to the floor, closing the distance between us even more until his hand is suddenly cradling my cheek.
“Just so we’re clear here, I mean this,” he says, pressing his lips softly against mine as his other hand moves to my chin, tilting my mouth toward him. I’ve been kissed by some pretty convincing boys in my life, each one wanting to make me believe something by the way their mouth worked against mine, the way their tongues coaxed their way inside. This one kiss from Ty was like removing a blindfold.

Character Interview:

Welcome Nate, Rowe, Ty, & Cass!

Jordansbookreviews: Nate & Ty- What was it about baseball that made you fall in love  with it?

Ty:
For me, it was just sort of that thing that was always on in the
house. We watch a lot of sports in our house, and when I was really
little, like three or four, I remember my dad getting all excited over
some pitcher who was about to throw a complete shut-out. In case you don't
know, a pitcher getting one of those is pretty rare. My dad talked about
it for days, so I started paying attention to baseball. Then I got a glove
and a ball for Christmas, and my dad and me were throwing outside…pretty
much non-stop. Once I started Little League, that was it--I was hooked. At
first, it was just the bonding--this cool think I could do with my dad.
But then, there was this really great feeling I got. It's this rare thing
that only so many people get to be good at, and you have to be good as an
individual and good as a team. It's so complex, and I like a challenge.

Nate:
I found baseball because of Ty. I used to love watching him. I'd sit
on the front bleacher for every game. And then, when I was old enough,
Ty's coach let me be the bat boy. Ty pitched, and he played infield, but
he's the one who wanted me to catch. I think it started with wanting
someone to catch for him, but eventually it because him wanting to see me
succeed. He recognized something in me, pushed my talent. I owe him
everything for that.

JBR: Rowe- you're big into music. what are some bands/songs that you couldnt go a day without listening to?

Rowe:
I really love indie rock, bands like Alt-J and the National. But for me it's always Jack White. Josh introduced me to him when we were in high school. He was a wannabe guitar player and used to try to play Jack's music. Jack always reminds me of him.

JBR: Cass, Rowe, Nate, Ty- Something we don't know about you?

Cass: I can't dance. Like…at all. I'm amazingly coordinated on the soccer
field, but when you put music out there, I just look ridiculous trying to
move in some way that looks even remotely like dancing.

Rowe: That's funny, because I can actually dance. I can't do what she can
do with a ball or while running, but I can dance. I'm actually kind of
good.

Nate: I can't drive a stick-shift. Ty makes fun of me.

Ty: It's true. I do make fun of him.

Nate: Uhm, question's not about me, dude. Focus!

Ty: Just commentary on your answer, man. That's all. Hmmm, something about
me. My middle name is Francis, named after my great grandfather.

JBR: For you sporty people- Cass/ty/nate- Favorite sports team?
Cass: I love Manchester United. I know, it's such an easy answer, but that
club--they're always so good, so aggressive with the ball. Best soccer
ever!

Ty: Can't lie, I love those Saints. Who dat?

Nate: I love the Cubs. It's the history, and everyone's always jumping on
the Red Sox bandwagon, but the Red Sox, they've gotten their due finally.
The Cubs, they're still working for it. One day they're going to win the
Series; I hope I'm there when it happens.

JBR: Nate & Ty- Best brotherly moment?/Best family memory?

Ty: I'll take this one, if that's okay with you, Nate?

Nate: Sure, as long as your favorite memory isn't you beating my ass.

Ty: Fine, I'll go with number two. Owwww! Kidding. Our best memory is
always Thanksgiving. We do things a little differently in the Preeter
house. We don't really like turkey, so my mom just picks something we all
like, even if the dishes don't go together. It's always the best. Anyhow,
when we were younger, we always had game night that night, and it was
always Nate and me against the parents and other relatives. We went four
years in a row not losing a game, and I loved every minute of it.

Nate: Damn, bro. That's nice.

Ty: Yeah, I didn't mention how I had to carry your ass to make sure we won
most of the time. I mean seriously, dude's weak at cards and crap.

Nate: Had to ruin it, didn't you?

Ty: It was getting too sentimental, and mushy, what can I say.

JBR: Nate & Rowe- Any big plans for your future?

Rowe: Nate's getting scouted.

Nate: It's no big deal.

Rowe: Pssshaw! Like hell it isn't. It's a big deal. I'm going to
California with him in a month for a huge tournament. It's an Under Armour
thing. And he's like the only thing people are talking about.

Nate: It's pretty cool actually. Best part? My girl will be there.

Rowe: Awwww, mean it?

Nate: No, I'm just trying to look awesome in front of these people.

Rowe: Uh huh….

Nate: Kidding. Of course I mean it!

JBR: Ty & Cass- Same question, any big plans for the future?

Ty: Huh, funny thing…Cass already got scouted. She's trying to make the
final cut for the US women's soccer team. She's one of the youngest, but
she's the best.

Cass: Thanks, coach. He's been training me--and he's been…

Ty: Lazy doesn't get you to the goal.

Cass: That's the dumbest analogy I've ever heard.

Ty: Whatever, you know what I meant. Seriously, though? She doesn't need
me. She's got this thing in the bag.

JBR: Cass- Favorite thing to do with ty?

Cass: Uhmmmm…. (blushing).

Ty: You vixen!

Cass: Training. I totally meant training!

JBR: nate- What are the best moments You & Rowe share?

Nate: I like the quiet ones, when we're just hanging out studying or
falling asleep. I like having her near me, in my arms. When she wasn't,
that feeling pretty much sucked. So I guess I sort of cherish every time
she's really here and I'm touching her. I get how special that is.
JBR: (Awwww! <3)

JBR: Rapid fire-  One or all can answer the same question

Favorite  movie?

Ty: The Departed

Cass: Well I have to say the Departed, too…Or Gangs of New York. Right?

Ty: Uh yeah you do!

Nate: I guess I'd go with Twilight.

Rowe: You're bullshitting.

Nate: No, I like Twilight. Why?

Rowe: I don't even know you. I'm going with The Departed, too. Because I
want to be like those two.

Nate: Whatever. Weak!

Favorite tv show?

Ty: Sports Center

Nate: Sports Center

Cass: Sports Center

Rowe: Really? Uh…House Crashers on HGTV or Teen Wolf.

Favorite  food?

Ty: Burgers…and I like egg rolls.

Nate: Definitely meat. Burgers, steak, chicken…whatever.

Cass: Tomato mozzarella. It sounds harmless, like a vegetarian dish. But
it's not--it's so awesome and good.

Rowe: Well someone has to represent the pepperoni. I'm going pizza.

Favorite color?

Ty: Pink.

Nate: Yeah, definitely pink.

Rowe and Cass, in unison: Definitely pink!

Favorite candy?

Nate: Mike and Ike

Ty: Dude, no one likes Mike and Ike.

Nate: I do.

Ty: They get stuck in your teeth!

Nate: So? I like them.

Ty: You're such a disappointment. Snickers. Clearly the right answer issnickers.

Cass: Uhm, I like Mike and Ike.

Ty: Seriously? Uhhhhhgggg! I don't even know you!

Rowe: Snickers.

Ty: There ya go. Bam!

Favorite person/ alive or dead?

Nate: Tony Gwynn.

Cass: Mia Hamm.

inspiring!

Favorite animal?
Ty: Cheetah.

Cass: Wow, that was fast.

Ty: It's rapid-fire.

Cass: Oh, good point. Bear.

Ty: Bear? That's the best you've got?

Cass: Rapid-fire, asshead!

Nate: Sharks. Sharks eat everything, even cheetahs.

Ty: No they don't. Quit mixing your land and water animals, dude. Lame joke.

Rowe: Killer whale. I'm pretty sure they can eat sharks.

Ty: Ha! Now that's funny.

Favorite holiday?
Ty and Nate, together: Thanksgiving.

Rowe: Christmas. I like the lights.

Cass: July fourth.

Place you want to visit the most?

Ty: The Pacific. I've only seen it once, but man do I want to go back.

Cass: Home. My last trip home was…different. I'm looking forward to going
back.

Nate: I'd like to see the Grand Canyon. I've been to Arizona a few times
now, and my girl keeps promising to take me, yet still…nothing.

Rowe: Apparently, I want to visit the Grand Canyon.

Boxers or briefs?
Nate: Boxers.

Ty: Neither.

Naughty or nice?
Nate: Oh, I'm nice, but I like to play naughty.

Ty: I'm naughty, and I don't like nice.

Cass: Liar. You're sooooo totally nice.

Ty: Baby, keep that under wraps.

Cass: Don't call me baby.

Rowe: I forgot the question.

Food fight or Water balloon fight?
Nate: Food.

Ty: Duh, water. Wet T-shirts!

Cass: Pig.

Ty: Honest.

Cass: FOOD.

Rowe: Yeah, food.

JBR: Anything you would like to tell your readers?

I am blown away every time someone reads one of my stories, emails me,
messages me on Facebook, Tweets me. This is all I ever wanted to do, so
thank you for taking my characters in, embracing them and letting me write
more. I promise to always give you everything I've got.

Thank You Ginger, Nate, Rowe, Ty & Cass!
